Erase distractions from a photo and save a separate version

At a glance

A Pixel owner uses Magic Eraser to remove unwanted objects while keeping an edited copy of the photo. This workflow is listed under Photos, Creative Work, Life Admin.

What they did

1) Use Google Photos on a Pixel 4a or later and open the photo containing the distraction you want to remove. 2) Tap Edit, then Actions, then Magic Eraser. In some editor layouts, start with Edit photo and look under Tools and Actions instead. 3) Tap a suggested distraction to erase it, or circle or brush over an additional object yourself. If you want an object to blend into the scene instead of disappearing, choose Camouflage and brush over it. 4) Review the altered image, tap Done, and choose Save as copy when saving the edits. This leaves you with a separate edited version to use rather than requiring you to replace the source image.

Worth knowing

This card follows Google's Pixel-specific instructions; the documented Magic Eraser requirement is Pixel 4a or later.
