What they did
1) Open Duolingo with a Max subscription and a course supporting Roleplay. The provider lists it for English speakers learning Spanish, French, German, Italian or Portuguese on iOS and Android. 2) On the learning path, tap a character's Side Quest and read the assigned scenario, such as ordering coffee or arranging a hike. 3) Respond to the character in the language you are studying and continue the scenario as the AI adapts to your replies. 4) Complete the exchange and read the feedback on the accuracy and complexity of your responses, including suggestions for future conversations. If an AI message contains an error, hold it down and use the reporting menu.
Worth knowing
Curriculum staff write the scenario and opening message, but the conversation itself is generated and can contain errors. Access to Video Call in a course does not by itself mean Roleplay is available there.
