What they did
1) Install Gastos on an iPhone; the maker's workflow requires no account. Have your home currency and the currency used on your trip ready. 2) Use Travel Mode to track purchases in the local currency while viewing home-currency equivalents. 3) For each purchase, type a short description and amount, photograph the receipt, or record a voice note. The on-device parser converts the input into an expense. 4) Check the recorded purchase against what you spent, then review the trip totals and spending insights in your home currency. Open the app while online when you want its exchange-rate data refreshed.
Worth knowing
The maker says expenses remain on the device and bundled exchange rates support offline use. The app does not split group expenses or calculate who owes whom.
