Ask follow-up questions about one backed-up photo

At a glance

Google Photos lets eligible Android users question a selected photo without starting a separate image-upload conversation. This workflow is listed under Photos, Image Questions, Personal Information.

What they did

1) Use an eligible Google Photos account in a supported location. Gemini features require age 18 or older, Face Groups with your own face selected, and location estimates enabled. Ensure the photo is backed up. 2) Open your profile, then Photos settings, Preferences, Gemini features in Photos, and turn on Ask Photos. Complete onboarding by confirming your own face group; labeling other people is optional. 3) Open the particular photo, tap Ask, enter a question about it and tap Send. You can use the microphone instead of typing. 4) Read the answer with the image in view, then ask follow-up questions or request clarification in that conversation. Check the visible details yourself before relying on the interpretation.

Worth knowing

Ask Photos is experimental, can answer inaccurately, and is not available to every account or region.
