What they did

1) Sign into Google AI Studio with the Google AI Pro or Ultra account used in the tutorial. Prepare two receipt photos with personal details removed. Open Build → New app and leave Default mode selected. 2) Describe a personal budget app that reads store, date, items, and tax-inclusive final total; permits category corrections before saving; lists monthly receipts; totals spending by category; and exports CSV. Require it to ask about unreadable values. 3) In the preview, upload a receipt and compare every extracted field with the image. Report one defect per message, such as using the printed TOTAL rather than summing items. Correct display contrast if a value is invisible. 4) Save both receipts, verify their combined dashboard total, and reload to check persistence. Keep the working app under My apps.

How it went

The source's two receipts totaled $15.05 correctly after a dark-mode display fix.
