What they did
1) Sign in to Word for the web with an active Microsoft 365 subscription using Edge or Chrome. Have the interview audio ready as a WAV, MP4, M4A or MP3 file. 2) Open a document and choose Home, Dictate, Transcribe. In the pane, select Upload audio and choose the recording. Leave the pane open while transcription runs. 3) Play back uncertain sections by selecting their timestamps. Hover over a section, choose Edit transcript section, correct its text or speaker label, and confirm. Use Change all Speaker to rename repeated labels together. 4) Choose Add all to document for the full corrected transcript, or add only the sections you need. Share that Word document when the text is ready.
Worth knowing
Audio is saved in OneDrive's Transcribed Files folder. Sharing the document does not automatically grant recipients playback access to that audio.
