What they did
1) Install Git, Node.js with npm, and Ollama on a computer that can run Gemma 3 4B. Run `git clone https://github.com/Aayush264/receipt-raccoon.git`, enter `receipt-raccoon`, and run `npm install` followed by `ollama pull gemma3:4b`. 2) Keep Ollama running, start the application with `npm run dev`, and open `http://localhost:3000`. Choose Add a bill and upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP receipt. 3) Select Read with AI. Compare the extracted seller, purchase date, product, and amount against the image; correct errors and supply the warranty dates you want to track. Save the checked bill. 4) Retrieve it through the search box or Ask Receipt Raccoon, open the original document when needed, and download a JSON backup of the collection.
Worth knowing
The hosted demo does not provide the local AI features. PDFs require manual details. Records stay in this browser's IndexedDB; clearing browser storage can erase them, and local storage is not encryption.
