Approve an invoice-filing rule and inspect what it will do

At a glance

An Outlook user asks Copilot to create a future-mail rule, reviews its conditions, and checks the resulting rule list. This workflow is listed under Life Admin, Email, Invoices.

What they did

1) Open Copilot Chat or Outlook's Copilot pane with your work mailbox and a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Decide which message condition should trigger filing and which folder should receive the mail. 2) Ask for a rule that moves incoming messages whose subject contains Invoice into the Invoices folder. 3) Review Copilot's proposed condition, destination, and future-mail scope. If the folder is missing, the confirmation also covers creating it. Confirm only after those details match your intent. 4) Ask Copilot to list the mailbox rules and inspect the new rule's condition, action, and enabled status. On web or desktop, use the supplied Outlook Rules settings link if you need to manage it directly.

Worth knowing

Creating this rule does not file existing messages. Copilot asks for confirmation before creating, updating, or deleting rules; the Rules settings link is unavailable on mobile.
