What they did

1) Have a supported US bank account, a Claude account and an OpenBudget account. In OpenBudget, choose Connect a bank account, select your bank in Plaid, authenticate there, choose the accounts to share and confirm read-only access. Wait for transaction history to appear. 2) Open Integrations, then Claude in the OpenBudget dashboard. Copy its MCP configuration into the connected-app or MCP-server settings of your Claude client. 3) Start a new conversation and ask which accounts are accessible; check that the expected accounts appear before querying payments. 4) Ask whether rent was paid for a specific month. Inspect the returned payment date, amount and history, and ask follow-up questions in the same conversation if a transaction needs clarification. Use the result as a lookup of recorded activity.

How it went

The provider's worked example identifies a rent payment and displays its date and amount alongside earlier rent history.

Worth knowing

The described connection is read-only. This is a third-party OpenBudget integration, and the example does not demonstrate sending a rent payment.
