What they did
1) Have Claude and Notion accounts and permission to create pages in the target workspace. In Claude Settings, open Connectors, add the custom connector https://mcp.notion.com/mcp, and authorize Notion access. 2) Ask Claude to create a Monthly Budget Tracker page with a database containing Date, Description, Type, Category, Amount, and Notes; Type distinguishes income from expense. Reproduce the author's trial with ten realistic sample rows for March 2026. 3) Ask Claude to read the database, calculate income, expenses, net savings, and savings rate, and write a monthly report back into Notion with a category breakdown. 4) Ask it to create a separate goals page containing a savings target, budgeting checklist, and prompts for refreshing the report next month. Open the created database and report in Notion to review the entries and calculations.
How it went
The submission shows the database, summary, and goals pages. Its reported totals were generated from sample entries.
Worth knowing
This demonstrates workspace creation and prompted reporting. It does not establish automatic bank synchronization or savings achieved with real household transactions.
