What they did
1) Use a Windows 10/11 x64 computer with AVX2 support, Node 20+, and preferably at least 8 GB RAM for the local model. Clone https://github.com/Dev-Saurabh-K/family-vault, run npm install, then npm start. 2) Choose Create Vault, select an empty directory, and set the vault password. Before going offline, open Ask Assistant and choose Download Local AI Runtime to install the model and inference runtime. 3) Import the relevant PDFs or scanned identity and policy documents. Review extracted metadata and proposed facts rather than accepting them as authoritative. 4) Examine cross-document discrepancy flags, comparing each conflicting name or date with the cited originals. 5) Ask a concrete policy question, such as the deductible amount, and inspect its document citations. Finish by verifying the flagged fields against the originals before using them in an application.
How it went
The author reports demonstrating a birthdate discrepancy to his father with Wi-Fi turned off.
Worth knowing
The AI runtime requires an initial download. The project provides local extraction and cited answers; its submission does not establish that every discrepancy will be caught.
