Claude Code configured an entire Arch Linux ThinkPad install
At a glance
Will Morrison installed Claude Code early on a Marketplace ThinkPad and had it research tools, configure the whole machine, and write a home CLAUDE.md so later changes kept full system context. This workflow is listed under linux, dotfiles, arch, claude-code, dev-setup.

What they did
On a fresh Arch install, he installed his terminal (foot) then Claude Code immediately. Every configuration step was done through Claude Code: research online for tools, configure them to his specs, and write a CLAUDE.md in the home directory describing the system, preferences, and how pieces fit together. Dotfiles stayed short, readable, and version-controlled on Codeberg.
How it went
He estimated about 95% less time than prior installs and said the result was better than anything he had built by hand.
Worth knowing
He noted less satisfaction and skill atrophy in window-manager and TUI config, and started some LLM-free projects to slow that; Lobsters commenters also reported driver-fix failures with Claude Code on similar hardware chores.
