What they did
1) Use Claude Cowork and prepare meal_preference.md with each person's allergies, dislikes and preferences, pantry staples, recipe templates and past menus. Add cooking rules, such as one shared protein, different sides and dinner leftovers for lunch. 2) Give Claude the file and request this week's plan. Correct unsuitable meals, side-dish repetition and leftover timing. 3) Save the corrected planning, prep-schedule and shopping-list instructions as reusable skills. Generate a combined grocery list with quantities. 4) For the browser approach the author tried, give Claude in Chrome access to your signed-in Kroger shopping session and have it search for the listed products and fill the cart. Review product matches and quantities in Kroger before ordering.
How it went
The author reports plans that respected household restrictions. Browser cart filling worked, but was slow and token-heavy for more than 50 items.
Worth knowing
The author's later setup uses custom Kroger API tools instead. Its reported ten-minute weekly routine refers to that final integration.
