What they did

1) Gather three months of transaction records containing merchant descriptions, dates, and amounts, then open Claude or another text assistant. 2) Paste the transactions and ask it to identify recurring charges. Request three groups: essential bills, discretionary services, and unfamiliar charges needing investigation. 3) For each discretionary service, request its annual cost and a question that helps you decide whether you use it. For unfamiliar charges, ask what the merchant may be and which entries need follow-up. 4) Choose the services you want to stop and ask for cancellation-message drafts. Read those drafts and resolve unidentified merchants before taking them to the providers yourself. This produces a review queue and messages rather than cancelling accounts automatically.
