What they did
1) Prepare the purchase in the retailer's checkout. Open Chrome on Grok Bot's computer and sign in to the shopping account there, as the shopper did. 2) Hand the checkout to Grok Bot and ask it to find and test promo codes. 3) Let it apply candidates to that checkout and compare the resulting discount. 4) Finish with the working code applied and the discounted total visible; the post establishes a discount, rather than a completed order.
How it went
The author reports trying three unsuccessful codes manually. Grok Bot then tested 13 codes in under 50 seconds and found an £8 saving.
