What they did
1) Have an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled, supported system and Siri languages, and Live Translation available for the languages and region you need. Apple documents Phone translation with iOS 26 or later. 2) Start a call in the Phone app. During the call, tap More and select Live Translation; the phone switches to speaker if you are not already using a speaker or headphones. 3) Choose the other person's language if necessary and let the language download if it is not installed. Tap Start Translation, which informs both parties that translation is active. 4) Continue the conversation: the other person hears your translated speech, their reply is translated for you, and you can read the on-screen transcript. Check important details in the translated exchange before relying on them.
Worth knowing
Language and regional availability varies. Apple states that the translation uses generative models and can produce variable output; this is its documented call workflow, not a report of a completed booking or other transaction.
