What they did
1) On macOS or Linux, clone https://github.com/juwon0/jeongsan, enter the directory, and run `bash scripts/first_run.sh`. Initial setup needs internet access; the script installs Ollama if missing, downloads a Gemma 4 model sized for available memory, processes sample receipts, and opens the app. 2) Start with Try the sample receipts or drop in your own receipt photos, including supported iPhone HEIC files. 3) Let the model extract the printed fields. The app checks printed arithmetic, Korean business-number check digits, dates, and possible duplicate purchases. 4) Compare yellow fields with the receipt image, correct misread values, mark reviewed rows Checked, and remove duplicate purchases from the report. 5) Export the Excel workbook or CSV; the workbook keeps totals separate by currency.
How it went
The author reports 294 of 303 scored fields correct across three sample passes; their checks flagged every photo containing a scored error.
Worth knowing
An unflagged row only passed consistency checks; it is not proof that the receipt was transcribed correctly.
