What they did
1) Install Node.js 22.12 or newer, npm 11, and local Ollama. Run `ollama pull gemma3:4b` and keep Ollama running. Clone https://github.com/sufiankhan-dev/Messimo, enter its directory, run `npm ci` and `npm run dev`, then open http://127.0.0.1:3000. 2) For a trial, run `node scripts/create-demo-folder.mjs` and select the generated demo/messimo-demo folder through Choose folder. Selecting it starts a read-only scan and duplicate check. 3) Open Review → Generate suggestions. Inspect each original path, proposed name and destination, reason, and uncertainty warning. 4) Approve or reject individual suggestions, then choose Apply approved changes and confirm the listed source/destination pairs. 5) Inspect the per-file results in History. If needed, request Undo while the files remain in their recorded state.
How it went
The author's synthetic 13-file smoke run found two exact duplicate groups, applied one approved operation, and successfully undid it.
Worth knowing
Images use metadata only. Undo can refuse a batch if files changed after organization.
