What they did
They run Hermes with local plus cheap hosted models. A Codex-built helper parses email receipts into SQLite; Hermes predicts restocks, logs into the supermarket site, books a delivery slot, and adds items—barcode photos mid-week append to the cart. For work trains it watches delays via Realtime Trains and auto-applies compensation through a Camoufox browser with 1Password credentials. It also monitors swim-lesson availability for their son and booked a suitable slot, identified a nonstandard clock battery from a photo and ordered it on Amazon, and used Home Assistant context to find compatible smart radiator thermostats on eBay.
How it went
After a few months they said it runs many boring parts of life and frees family time; they started with train tracking and iterated once email, browser, vault, and WhatsApp bridges were in place.
Worth knowing
They prefer local/home-network agents over pure cloud (e.g. Muse) for privacy; browser automation uses Camoufox plus VNC for captchas, and credentials stay in a limited 1Password vault.
