What they did

1) Install lilbee on your computer; on a Mac with Homebrew, run `brew tap tobocop2/lilbee` followed by `brew install lilbee`. Have the manual PDF locally available. 2) Run `lilbee`, open the model catalog, and download a chat model that fits your hardware plus an embedding model. Both are needed for document Q&A. 3) Index the manual with `lilbee add /path/to/manual.pdf` and wait for extraction and indexing to finish. 4) Run `lilbee ask` followed by your question, or ask in the terminal app. Open the returned source citation and check the answer against the manual.

How it went

The author showed a cited answer against an indexed car manual with local inference and said he also used the tool with horticulture forums.

Worth knowing

Model downloads need connectivity. Scanned PDFs need OCR, using Tesseract or a vision model. Keep a local model selected for local inference; optional cloud-model support is a separate choice.
