What they did
1) Have Git, Python 3.8+, Node.js 18+, an input CSV, and an Anthropic API account able to use the model configured in the script. Clone https://github.com/dinesh0666/data-story.git and enter data-story. 2) In a Python virtual environment, install pandas and openpyxl; install the docx Node package where the repository's scripts can resolve it. 3) Supply ANTHROPIC_API_KEY through the process environment, and run bash skill/scripts/run_datastory.sh /absolute/path/sales_data.csv. 4) The script profiles columns with pandas, sends a reduced JSON profile to Claude for narrative generation, and passes both results to the Word generator. 5) Open datastory_sales_data.docx and review its findings alongside the statistical profile before sharing it.
Worth knowing
The source script names claude-sonnet-4-20250514; check model access first. Large files are sampled, and Excel support reads only the first sheet. The narrative receives sample data as well as statistics.
