What they did
1) Prepare an image showing a full repeat of the existing floral fabric and a reference photo showing the desired stripes and surrounding room colors. Upload both to ChatGPT. 2) Describe the watercolor strokes, irregular stripe widths, background and coordinating colors; provide paint hex codes and an approximately 14-inch horizontal repeat. Require seamless tiling in both directions. 3) Download the generated tile and open it in PaintShop Pro or another image editor. 4) To remove a stripe, select its entire height, delete it and flood-fill the selection with the background color. Deselect before editing another stripe; adjust widths, placement and brightness as needed. 5) Check the repeated pattern for visible joins, then upload the finished design to Spoonflower for fabric printing.
How it went
The author reports getting the initial texture in about a minute and shows the manually revised design uploaded for printing.
Worth knowing
ChatGPT produced the starting artwork; the final stripe arrangement and color refinements were manual.
