CNET tester: Meta Muse quoted $5 over and could not finish checkout

At a glance

Amanda Smith used Muse as a personal shopper for fall clothes; at Uniqlo checkout it quoted $5 more than the real total, lost the cart item, and she had to buy the belt herself. This workflow is listed under shopping, checkout, payments, personal-agents, fashion.

What they did

She asked Muse to assemble a fall wardrobe from her Instagram style signals, narrowed to a belt and corduroy pants, connected Stripe Link, and tried to buy the belt. Muse confirmed shipping, she declined a $99 plan to waive shipping, then Muse showed a final total $5 higher than the actual price. When she asked it to fix the discrepancy it could not explain or resolve it, and the belt was missing from the cart.

How it went

She took over the browser and completed the purchase manually in about two minutes. Muse suggested opening Uniqlo, adding the item, and checking out herself. Meta did not immediately comment.

Worth knowing

She still found Muse useful for style discovery (~95% of the way) but treated payment totals as something to verify before approving.
