Google Universal Cart: cross-retailer cart in Search and Gemini (US)
Google (Oct 15) rolls Universal Cart in the U.S. across Search (including AI Mode) and the Gemini app: save items from multiple retailers into one cart, get price-drop and restock alerts on Shopping Graph listings, surface Wallet card perks and promo codes, then check out with Google Pay or transfer to the merchant site via Universal Commerce Protocol. Positioned as shopper-controlled infrastructure next to future agentic commerce (AP2), not autonomous buy-on-your-behalf yet. Merchants named include Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta, Walmart, Wayfair and many Shopify stores.
