What they did
1) Prepare a working development environment for your chosen stack and access to Claude chat, Claude Code and Git. The author's site used Laravel, Filament, Blade and Tailwind. 2) Discuss reference sites and design choices in chat, then save a Markdown plan covering routes, data models, file structure, visual rules and acceptance criteria for each phase. 3) In Claude Code, implement one phase from that plan and review its files. Ask for a second pass to remove dead code, extract shared logic and fix edge cases. 4) Inspect the cleanup diff and commit the reviewed phase before starting the next. Continue through public pages and content migration, including redirects for old URLs.
How it went
The author published the rebuilt site and showed separate implementation and simplification commits.
Worth knowing
The author added tests late and says tests alongside each phase would have caught problems sooner.
