What they did
1) Gather the existing family biography, including embedded photographs, into a Word document. Use an assistant account with file upload and deep research available. 2) Supply the document and request research into the person's life. The author compared the same brief across Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini with their strongest available models and high thinking settings. 3) Read the cited report against the original account. Examine disputed dates, addresses and occupations, and distinguish family testimony from independently supported facts. 4) Use the report's proposed archival searches as the next research queue. Check identity matches before adding records to the family history, especially when the surname is common.
How it went
Claude and ChatGPT flagged date issues. ChatGPT also found an address and occupation lead concerning the first wife's family.
Worth knowing
No distinctive new primary record for the grandfather was confirmed. Gemini's visually attractive report included an inaccurate map.
