What they did

1) Copy the work folder to a local desktop directory and run Claude Code against that copy, preserving the originals. Explicitly prohibit deletion without your instruction. 2) Ask it to inspect the files and propose a structure; review categories and revise the plan together. 3) Approve moves and consistent renaming, then let it distribute files into the agreed folders. Put unclear items in _UNSORTED or _NON_WORK_RELATED. 4) Review each organized folder for duplicates and obsolete versions. Authorize only the removals you have checked, retaining the versions you need.

How it went

The author reports completing the reorganization in roughly three to four hours. The original post describes more than 4,000 files and one document with 18 versions.

Worth knowing

The author deliberately avoided working on partially downloaded OneDrive files and did not allow autonomous deletion. The exact file count in the screenshot was corrected in the post.
