What they did
1) Have Muse available on a computer and sign in to the genealogy services you authorize it to use. The author supplied an old Mac Mini and an existing Ancestry subscription. 2) Ask Muse to work through the tree, validate information and identify queries requiring other databases. Purchase the additional access you choose; the author bought one-month Newspapers.com and Fold3 subscriptions. 3) Have Muse run those searches, compare the evidence, and check FamilySearch for corroboration and additional records. 4) For gaps requiring offline records, have it draft archive emails, complete request forms and prepare accompanying letters. Review the requests and arrange any required payments yourself; the author described letters accompanying money orders.
How it went
The author reported extended research sessions and $107 in archive money orders; total expected spending was about $160–170.
