What they did

1) Give Claude Cowork access to last year's tax folder, your checklist, and this year's documents. Scan paper receipts yourself. The author used Opus 5. 2) Ask Claude to reuse the folder structure, identify missing material, organize receipts, and build spreadsheets and explanatory notes. Answer its questions. 3) Require formulas or rerunnable scripts for calculations. Add control rows comparing receipt totals with bank statements; have scripts compare source amounts with finished tables. Investigate nonzero reconciliations. 4) Supply the previous filed return and assessment to resolve questions from precedent, retaining new questions for the adviser. 5) Request a final review and a cover document explaining the package. Check it and deliver a password-protected archive to the adviser yourself.

How it went

A reconciliation exposed a reversed sign. Using prior filings reduced the author's adviser-question list from about 30 items to seven.

Worth knowing

The author reported little wall-clock reduction; collecting paper and making judgment calls remained manual.
