What they did

1) Sign in to NotebookLM, create a notebook, and add the papers or other source material you want to study. You need a notebook with Audio Overview customization available. 2) Before generating audio, open Audio Overview → Customize. 3) Specify that the listener already understands the field; request a detailed technical briefing, accurate terminology from the sources, comprehensive analysis, and less introductory chatter. The commenter also requests a much longer discussion. 4) Generate the audio and listen to the resulting briefing. 5) If the notebook already has generated audio and Customize is unavailable, the replies describe deleting that audio and generating a new customized version; another reader used a new notebook containing the same sources.

How it went

The commenter says the customized instruction worked well for them; they provide no measured accuracy or achieved duration.

Worth knowing

The requested two-hour length is an aspiration in the prompt, not a demonstrated output length. These instructions were reported in April 2025.
